[ She studies him for a moment before nodding and motioning for him to join her at the dining table. ]

Yeah, we should. [ Because she's getting the feeling this is going to be a longer conversation than anticipated. ]

Go on then, how do they look?

[He takes his seat on the far side of the table, hands folding... and then unfolding and set flat.]

What first struck me was both his loyalty to his men, and the loyalty he had in return. It tells me a great deal about him as a leader and as a person.

.. You've much the same of that protective ferociousness. [Or really, they wouldn't be having this conversation.] As does Cordelia.

[ She catches the red briefly before her attention is fully turned to holding up each uniform in turn. She lets out a low whistle of appreciation. ]

Older in style than I'm used to, but I like it. Give me a few minutes, [ she says as she takes the uniforms with her to find privacy while she changes. Not that she thinks one of them would mind her doing it right in front of them, but it'd help with the reveal after. ]

[ She keeps her own arms folded against her chest as she leans back in her seat and watches him. ]

What 'men' of his are here for you to gauge that from? The kids that have been running around him?

[There's not much giving ground in that stance. Still, he pushes on.]

As well as a general and intelligence officer. The network there does have variety. Though his instincts are particularly strong for the children.

[As Tex moves to another room, Aral doesn't quite know what to do with himself, or exactly where to look. Cordelia didn't seem much safer.



He finds a chair and settles in it.]

Haven't met either of them, just the kids. And the last I heard of them in regards to Roy, they were the ones taking care of him.

Yeah, I noticed. I still found it odd he expected a couple of kids to take care of him through the entire recovery. I'm glad Cordelia was there to help.

I cannot speak to that, honestly, nor guess fairly.

Though I am as well. Cordelia has a way with the more stubborn types. Mostly, she does not put up with it.

Yeah, it's why I get along with her so well.

[ There's a small pause as she considers her next words. Then, ] Would you be fine with properly introducing us? So I at least know who he is?

[Aral being Aral, had been taking the whole line of questioning as doubt upon his own judgement, rather than Roy's character (Miles gets it from somewhere)... so while the connection may be held closed by Tex, the brightening on Aral's face at this request gives him almost a boyish cast.]

Should you wish, I would be honored.

[ The expression causes her own to soften. Slightly. Everything is entirely a judgement over Roy's character, but if Aral is trusting him this much, she may as well see what he's getting into. ]

I do. [ And a hint of worry seeps into her voice at her next question, ] Is this going to change anything for us?

[The surprise is genuine, as well as the low intensity of the] No.

[There's a pause, and a much more cautious,]

Not.. unless you wish it.

[ A small sigh, more of relief than anything else. ]

I wasn't planning on it. I'm just... new to this. [ She waves vaguely with her hand. ]

[ She joins him after a moment of watching him fidget, smirking next to him. ]

It.. is very new to me as well. It is foreign in many ways, quite literally. I may not be entirely graceful.

[ When she reappears, it's in the more formal version of the uniforms having figured if one of them wasn't going to fit well, it'd be that one. She's smoothing out the uniform jacket as she examines herself. ]

Am I going to have occasion to need this one?

[The formal uniform was always a stiff set, meant to hang well, imposing and austere, rather than be combat suitable. Or even comfortable to wear. Good god, it is a good look on her, none the less.]

Rarely if ever. Should we have any attendance as a House proper, it would be necessary to wear it. Belike, it would only be of use at home.
